As a company that operates in a segment directly involved with environmental issues, Courovale has always been concerned with participating in projects aimed at the development of society as a whole, with values that refer to preservation and sustainability.
For establishing sustainable development standards and being well structured in the three principles of sustainability, which are the economic, environmental and social aspects, Courovale is recognized with a gold medal in the LWG (Leather Working Group) certification and diamond seal in the CSCB (Certification of Sustainability of Brazilian Leather).
Therefore, it is through sustainable practices that Courovale strengthens itself in the organization itself and with everyone it relates to. And one of these actions is the company’s participation in the Projeto Arborizar. For the third consecutive year, Courovale supports this project, which aims to bring together companies from the Porto Alegre Metropolitan Region in favor of actions that seek to preserve the environment.
Among the main activities is the planting of tree seedlings and environmental education in the urban areas of the cities of Estância Velha and Novo Hamburgo, with the aim of promoting better air and a greener city, fostering a sustainable community.
In addition, it promotes the well-being of communities, increasing the shading area of streets and avenues, reducing heat zones. It is therefore a practical task that seeks practical results!
In all, there are 100 tree seedlings that value the national flora, with species of ipê amarelo, ipê lilas, cherry, araçá and cherry, which will absorb 16 tons of carbon. If this transformation that the measure seeks in the planting areas is not enough, some precautions are also taken into account for a really effective and long-term policy.
Among them, the planting feasibility study, which analyzes the area so that the electrical or hydraulic wiring systems submerged in the soil are not affected, among many other issues related to urban infrastructure.
The seedlings will be monitored for eight months, an adaptation period in which the plants are more sensitive to external factors, as they are adapting to new locations.
The action arouses the curiosity of society and all the seedlings receive identification plates, which bear not only the brand of the company responsible for planting and maintenance, but also technical and biological information about the tree. This proposal generates community engagement with companies, in addition to stimulating knowledge and the need to preserve nature.
It is a collective action created in 2016 that involves several segments of the public and private sector, such as universities, municipalities, municipal councils, companies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
With the central objective of the project, with “green” being the protagonist of the actions, the initiative encourages a series of actions aimed at preserving nature, encouraging new socio-environmental fronts in urban areas, to generate a “great” society. in sustainable terms and promote a better future for all.
Courovale identifies with these values and is proud to be part of this prosperous scenario. Get in touch and learn more about this action and our sustainability policy.
