The leather industry is known for its rich history and tradition but also faces significant challenges concerning environmental sustainability. However, some companies are taking the lead, adopting sustainable practices, and setting a new standard for the industry. One such company is Courovale, which is committed to sustainable actions at the business level.
In this article, we will explore Courovale’s sustainability policies and practices, which aim not only to offer quality products but also to contribute to the preservation of the environment. We invite you to learn about the sustainable engagement of our company and be part of this journey toward a greener future.
Traceability: Transparency in the Origin of Leather
With the continuous commitment to transparency, Courovale has implemented a comprehensive procedure to ensure the traceability of the hides from its manufacturing process to the direct supplier. With this, the customer can request information about the leather production process, using the product stamp as a reference. This initiative allows Courovale, together with its supplier, to have information about the traceability to the slaughterhouse, and to reach its origin.
In addition, our suppliers are obliged to provide declarations that prove that they meet the minimum requirements related to the origin of the hides. In this way, we seek to ensure that the hides used in our products meet responsible and sustainable standards.
We firmly believe that traceability is a fundamental pillar to building trust with our customers, reinforcing Courovale’s commitment to sustainability in all stages of our supply chain.
Waste Management: Minimizing Environmental Impact
At Courovale, industrial waste management is a priority. We have implemented a waste sorting system, ensuring that each material is properly separated and forwarded to recycling or co-processing companies. This way, we reduce our environmental impact, promoting the circular economy and contributing to the preservation of the environment.
Socio-environmental Engagement: Recycling for Giving
The “Recycle to Give” campaign from Courovale encourages its employees to bring empty plastic packages to the company. These packages are sold and the amount collected is used to buy food baskets and toys for needy families, which contributes to improving the quality of life of our community. Through this campaign we expand our socio-environmental action, helping the environment and inspiring our employees.
Recognized Certifications: Guarantee of Sustainable Practices
To consolidate our commitment to sustainability, we have obtained industry-recognized certifications. We have been certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG) since 2011 and by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry Sustainability (CSCB) since 2018. These certifications attest to our commitment to following the best sustainable practices, reinforcing our commitment to being an environmentally responsible company.
We invite you to learn more about Courovale’s sustainability policies. We believe that transparency is key to building trust, and we are proud to share our commitment to sustainability. Join us on this journey towards a more sustainable future for the leather industry. At Courovale, we are leading the way, demonstrating that it is possible to reconcile economic development with environmental and social responsibility.
